Deutscher Telematik Preis 2016 (“German Telematics Award”)

"Best-of" award for first place in the category "Telematics for Trailers" went to Schmitz Cargobull.

At the Future Congress "Nutzfahrzeuge" ("Commercial Vehicles"), Karl-Heinz Neu, head manager of Schmitz Cargobull Telematics, received the award for the trailer telematics system TrailerConnect.

The prize is awarded every two years by the trade magazine TeleTraffic in six categories.

The usability, features, quality of hardware and the future-oriented link to other platforms are the standards for evaluation.

Over two years, Preis Ingenieurbüro GmbH was involved in the development.

The main goal of the project was to optimize current consumption and robustness. The new sensors are attached to the system via a LIN bus system, they need less standby current and reduce the load on the wiring of the trailer.

Karl-Heinrich Preis, managing director at Preis Ingenieurbüro GmbH, was responsible for the project management, Gerd Bartelt for the hardware development, and Herbert Spinner implemented the software and the LIN communication.

Meanwhile, 32,000 trailers telematics systems made by Schmitz Cargobull Telematics have been sold, 23,000 of which are in active use on Europe’s streets.

These numbers highlight the professional hardware as well as the high availability and security of the software.

We are very proud to have made a contribution to the project with our know-how and are delighted about the award.
